Tho’d Studio Ent (TSE) is Arkansas’ #1 independent record label currently with several artist on their roster:  We AR Starz, Chill Will, Cholly Japrie, Fauntana, Tho’d Up Texas, BlackSand, Yung Squady, and Grand Markee as well as an in-house staff of producers ranging from some of the above mentioned artist to T-Lee Tha Archer.

Tho’d Studio was founded in year 2000 by CEO D-Dirt E. He and classmates from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock started out with the five member group We AR Starz.  Members consisted of Dirt himself, C-Luv, DolaMike, PoYo, and Ste-Feezy.  Thus far We AR Starz have released two cds: “Tyme 2 Shyne” a six song underground EP in 2001 and “Tho’d in da Studio” in late 2003.  The latter cd sold nearly 4000 copies regionally and is currently still on the market.  The release of “Tho’d in da Studio” taught these guys the ins and outs and do’s and don’ts of the music industry.

To establish a buzz for the label, in late 2003, TSE began releasing mix tapes featuring artist that were on the label as well as other well known local artist.  This was a major factor in creating a name for themselves.  These mix tape releases were the key to their street fame and creditability.  Fans saw that there was a pattern of consistency for producing good music.  Tho'd Studio has sold nearly 15,000 mixtapes combined.

Tho’d Studio was also associated with chopped and screwed music following in the foot steps of the late DJ Screw.  They saw how screw blew up the Houston rap scene propelling the careers of just about all of the Texas artist you see out right now such as Lil Flip, Z-Ro, Big Moe, Paul Wall, Mike Jones, Slim Thug, Hawk, and many more.  TSE knew they could do the same for AR by chopping and screwing their local music or Tho’d and Slo’d as they would call it.  They have over 30 Tho’d and Slo’d mix tapes featuring some of the hottest artist in the state.  These mix tapes were revolutionary due to the fact that they created a market for Arkansas music when there was no local market established.  Everyone in the Arkansas looked toward other states for their source of music; even the radio stations,  but now one label had put it out there for the public to hear.  TSE’s main goal behind this was to open the door for Arkansas artist because they knew without a home base established they could not connect nationally.  This also inspired TSE’s radio show on KABF 88.3 FM “Tha Real Underground Show” with DJ D-Dirt E and hosts Joe Flash and Grand Markee where only underground and local music is in rotation.

Basically, Tho’d Studio had to start from ground zero and be responsible for creating local support and building a fan base before they could execute their plan of going nationwide.  TSE is a major music factor in Arkansas.  Nothing happens in the state without them playing their part.  They have worked with just about every artist in the state stemming from production, recording, screw and chop, cd manufacturing, graphic design, and promotion.  Now that the basics are out of the way TSE is more focused on putting out their in-house artists that were acquired throughout the local revolution.  To be considered part of the in-house roster one had to be better than the best or in other words “Tho’d”;  Hence the name Tho’d Studio.  TSE is back in the game with a leg up on the competition which is having is a solid fan base and more knowledge of the music industry.  They have a complete understanding that its 90% business and 10% music.  The new motto is “Go Hard or Go Home” and some boyz already gone.
